On Friday July 25, 2014 the text of the new Law of Maritime Navigation, number 14/2014 of 24 July, was published in the Spanish Gazette. 524 articles that bring a legal revolution of those that happen in any country every hundred years.

Spain ratifies the Rotterdam Rules

Spain has become the first country to ratify the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Carriage of Goods Wholly or Partly by Sea, known as the “Rotterdam Rules”.

Our Managing Partner, Miquel Roca, was appointed Plenipotentiary of the kingdom of Spain to sign the Convention on behalf of Spain.

It is remarkable that Spain has been the first country to ratify the Convention, given the implication of the Spanish elegation in the Working Group sessions.

We draft the TIACOM Rules

The Spanish Maritime Law Association recently launched the TIACOM, the International Tribunal for Maritime and Commercial Arbitration. The TIACOM will be the leader in maritime dispute resolution of the Spanish speaking world. Blas de Lezo, leader in the field of arbitration, has been instructed to draft the TIACOM’s Rules.
