DIRECTOR            Anthony Rogers

Is a former Legal Advisor to several prominent Ship-Broking and Ship-owning companies in the United Kingdom. He is currently Senior Lecturer, the City Law School, The City University, London, where he teaches Maritime Law, and Trade and Commercial Law. He is an Approved International Legal Consultant for the United States International Aid Agency.  His special academic interests include Admiralty Practice, and the Law Relating to the Carriage of Goods by Sea. He is a member of the Editorial board of the Baltic Maritime Law Quarterly.

 

 

DEPUTY DIRECTOR    Miquel Roca  

Is qualified to practice Law in both Spain and England and Wales. After several years practicing as a Solicitor in England, he is now based in Spain, where he is the founding partner of Blas de Lezo Abogados, one of the leading shipping law practices in Spain. He is the Chairman of the Galician Maritime Law Committee, member of the Managing Board of the Spanish Maritime Law Association and publishes regularly in specialized newspapers. He is also the co-author the book “El Arbitraje Maritimo en Londres” (London Maritime Arbitration), the first book on the subject ever written in Spanish. He is a visiting lecturer at The City Law School, London and at the University of Swanea, Wales.

 

 

Richard Cadell

 

Richard Caddell is a Lecturer in International Maritime and Marine Law at Swansea University and a member of the Institute of International Shipping and Trade Law at Swansea. He was previously a lecturer in International Law at University of Wales, Bangor and has also taught at Cardiff Law School and the International University, Tallinn. Richard's main areas of research engage the law of the sea, marine environmental protection and international biodiversity law, and he has published in a number of leading journals including the Cambridge Law Journal, Yearbook on International Environmental Law (OUP) and Max Planck Encyclopaedia of Public International Law (OUP). He is also the co-editor of Blackstone's Statutes on Media Law (OUP). Richard holds an LLB in Law and Spanish (Honours) and an LLM in Commercial Law (Distinction) from Cardiff University, where he is currently finalising a PhD thesis on the law of the sea, and is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators

 

 

Professor David Glass

 

Is Law Lecturer at Cardiff University where he teaches International Trade and Finance.  He has published widely on these topics and (with Christopher Cashmore) is the author of an ‘Introduction to the Law of Carriage of Goods’ [Sweet & Maxwell]. He has recently published ‘Freight Forwarding’ [Lloyds of London Press]. He is a member of the editorial board of the Baltic Maritime Law Quarterly.

 

Dr. A. J. Corres

Dr. Corres is the chairman of the Hellenic Association of Maritime Economists, member of the Board of the Hellenic Short Sea Association, and International Shipping Policy Professor at the Aegean University. Dr. Corres will take care of the maritime economics sessions in the Summer School, sharing its expertise in the field gained with its professional relationship with the Union of Mediterranean Shipowners, Intertanko, the International Union of Maritime Underwriters, the Union of Greek Shipowners and the International Chamber of Shipping.

Concha Hill

Professor at the Barcelona University, she is a PhD in Marine Insurance. She has published widely on marine insurance and protection and indemnity clubs, being a leading academic in Spain. She is also the President of the Catalan Maritime Law Committee, and member of the International Insurance Law Association, Spanish branch.

Ioannis Kokkoris

Ioannis Kokkoris is a Principal Case Officer/Economic Advisor in the Office of Fair Trading, UK. He is also a Visiting Lecturer at City University Law School. He has conducted research at Harvard Law School and the US Federal Trade Commission. Dr Kokkoris is the General Editor of a multijurisdictional volume Competition Cases from the European Union (Sweet and Maxwell, 2007) and the co-editor of Τhe Challenge of an Optimal Enforcement System (forthcoming Kluwer, 2009). In addition, he has written a book on the gap in the enforcement of Article 82 (BIICL, 2009) and is currently writing a book on the implications of financial crises for competition law (Cambridge University Press). He is also the co-author of a book on remedies under competition law (forthcoming, Hart, 2009). He has written over 35 articles in leading journals (ECLR, World Competition, European Competition Journal, Journal of Competition Law and Economics, University of Pennsylvania Journal of Intl Law, JIBLR, ICCLR, etc.).
